Zoho Books Quickstart

This guide walks you through connecting autoGMS to Zoho Books, from zero to a synced invoice in under 10 minutes.

Prerequisites

  • A Zoho Books account (any plan, including free trial).
  • A Team on a Pro or Business plan in autoGMS.
  • Team owner or Garage owner role.

Step 1: Open the Integrations Marketplace

In your Garage dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations. Find Zoho Books in the list.

Step 2: Click Connect

Click Connect on the Zoho Books card. A configuration dialog opens.

Step 3: Select Your Zoho Region

Choose the Zoho data center region that matches your Zoho account:

  • .com (US)
  • .eu (Europe)
  • .in (India)
  • .com.au (Australia)

This ensures OAuth redirects go to the correct Zoho domain.

Step 4: Authorize

Click Authorize. You are redirected to Zoho's login page. Sign in and grant autoGMS access to your Zoho Books organization.

After authorization, you are redirected back to autoGMS. You should see a green "Connected" status.

Step 5: Map Your Organization

Select which Zoho Books organization to sync with. If you have multiple organizations in Zoho, pick the one that corresponds to this Garage.

Step 6: Map Accounts

Review the default account mappings between your autoGMS chart of accounts and Zoho Books accounts. Adjust if your Zoho Books chart of accounts uses custom account names.

Default mappings cover:

  • Revenue accounts → Zoho Sales accounts
  • Expense accounts → Zoho Expense accounts
  • Asset accounts → Zoho Asset accounts
  • Tax accounts → Zoho Tax accounts

Step 7: Trigger First Sync

Click Sync Now. The sync engine processes your data in the background:

  1. Customers sync first.
  2. Invoices sync next, referencing the synced customers.
  3. Payments sync last, linked to their invoices.

Check the sync progress in the integration detail page. The first sync typically completes in under a minute for small datasets.

Step 8: Verify in Zoho Books

Open your Zoho Books dashboard. You should see:

  • Customers from autoGMS listed in your Zoho contacts.
  • Invoices with matching line items and amounts.
  • Payments applied to the correct invoices.

Next Steps

If Something Goes Wrong

  • OAuth error — Ensure you selected the correct Zoho region.
  • Sync stuck — Check the sync log for error details. The most common cause is missing required fields in Zoho Books.
  • Wrong organization — Disconnect, then reconnect and select the correct organization.
